Oh man, sounds tricky! I've seen lots of sumps on here, so I think I can figure it out...

Wanted to add, I would recommend biting the bullet with the sump right off the bat, the sooner you do it the easier it will be to do. Once it's all setup and has livestock it will probably be much tougher to do, maybe close to impossible, and some people find they end up with a sub-par system in the end trying to tack it on after the fact. I would just get it drilled (much safer than an overflow box IMO) if it's not already and just get it over with. Look up the Herbie method as well for drains, best system out there. Do it once and do it right IMO. :)

On the skimmer note, I've never heard anything too extradordinary about anything made by Coralife, maybe the skimmers are different, I just automatically knock them off my list. I wouldn't go cheap on the skimmer though if it were me, but no need to get the latest and greatest either.

This is what I would look at, personally.

+1 on all of the above. It's so much easier to get it done right off the bat. Working on a tank that's already filled with livestock is much harder.

LOL, that's supposed to be simple?! Okay, I'll try to figure this out. I can put together furniture...I can build this. Right?! ;)

I'm sure if I have questions many of you will help me out!

Thanks for the detailed response. I checked out that skimmer and it looks good, and it's not too expensive! Under 300 bucks is my goal.

I'm currently putting my thought into the sump. Oy vey!

I just got my tires checked and it's all good! The warning light was on because it has been so cold that the air was compressing in the tire, signaling low pressure. It's been about 10 degrees at night and only warming up to about 22 during the day!

So...that means I'm going to pick up my tank and stand tonight!!!! ;D

while youre there you should definitly ask the people about the sump.. maybe they have a 75 gallon with an overflow built in.. My LFS sells the 75 regular and overflow for the same price, so maybe this could help you..

its always fun having the time to take care of an extra tank. just the process of starting from scrap and starting new ideas. always a blast.
