KC.... congratulations on the new tank. I think you will be happy with it. I have the octo extreme 160 and it pulls some really nasty stuff. I would recommend it.

I can't wait to get my tank going! It's driving my crazy. It came with a light, and I turn the light on and pretend there are fish in there. Lol. So sad.

So, I'm looking into protein skimmers tonight. I've heard great things about the Octopus Extreme from a lot of you guys. I'm definitely considering that one. Does anyone know about the Vertex IN-100? I've read some good reviews online and it's priced well...I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience.

    Thanks!

I have an Octopus on my 125 and love it. Definitely a well constructed reliable skimmer though they are sensative to the depth of water in the sump.

How about the Octopus XP-2000 or an I-Tech?

Although there are a couple good reviews on 3reef with the IN-100 as well :)

I'm not sure yet. I need to order the protein skimmer and get the substrate, rock, etc. Also, I'm going to attempt to set up a sump. Then it's go time.

I'm going to get a nice light, though I'm planning on waiting a bit until doing corals to make sure the water quality is good enough, so I'll buy a nice light a little ways down the road. When I just have fish I'm going to use the cheap light I already have.

I am hoping to stay under 300 dollars, so the Octopus XP-2000 is a bit too much. And I tried finding the I-Tech online, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...
