Thanks. I'm wondering what that clear tentacled thing is growing out of the coral skeleton.

I'm still undecided about lighting on my 90. I'd like to eventually house an anemone (not a requirement since mini-maxi carpets seem fine to me), but I have no plans of having SPS. I will be focusing on easier corals that don't need reactors. I only plan to have a filter and protein skimmer.

So how many LEDs should I be looking at for each side?
I was thinking 48 3w would be the most I would need, but I almost feel like I could get away with 3 drivers of 12-14 per side. (total 36-42 per side) What do you think?

I've said it before. My friend is selling the Blueline 120w that has 55 3w bulbs for $260 each. That is a tempting price to be done with it.

Regardless of what I said in PM, if you're really sure about not having SPS in the future at all (which I doubt :D), it is an option to use those light fixtures youve mentioned. Really similar to TaoTronics off eBay, if not, the same. See if you like LEDs in general :)

(Still Rapids LED DIY is my vote.)

I might in the future, but at least for now I am set on easy corals and just keeping it looking clean.

Tested the water today to see what my cycle was like. It is 8.1 ph, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 40 nitrates.

I put the skimmer on the sump and turned it on. I hope that helps get the nitrates down.

If they do go down I have two pairs of clownfish ready to go in. Are they compatible? Pic coming in about 20 minutes.

As promised. Here are pics of the two pairs of clownfish. The tiger goby. The sea cucumber. The mini maxi carpet anemone and if you look close there is a sexy shrimp that live with the carpet.

Are the two kinds of clowns compatible?

I know you'll correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like I have a clarkii pair and a false perc pair. I hope they get along.

They are in separate 30 gallon setups right now. One is definitely a breeding pair. Their eggs hatched about two weeks ago. The other pair is unknown. I know which one ill keep if I have to decide.

First pair in the tank. I also added the mini maxi carpet, some snails and starfish too. You can see the sexy shrimp on the carpet near the top. The clowns wouldn't hold still. I'll need a real camera to capture them.

There is a sea cuc in there too but he isn't doing so hot even though he is colorful.
