I've been pretty bad at keeping up with posts. So today I finally transferred the rest of the live stock and coral. Tank is looking great. for the time being my Powder Brown Tang is being a bully with my flame angel and foxface, but that seems to be dying down. here's a few pics of the tank and sump. Decided to go with chaeto and GFO with the monster recirc skimmer this time instead of biopellets. see how this works out. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

next weekend I will hook up the apex and get new cables for the LEDs to make them the same height. When I get back from my trips I'll try and be more consistent with the updates.

so my first headache with the tank. I'm out on a Saturday night when around 1am I get a phone call from home saying the tank is overflowing from the top. Great, this is all I need now after I already overflowed the skimmer earlier today. Mind you, I live in an apartment building. :-o I rush home and what do I find, damn snails in the overflow pipe. Lesson learned, to never leave off the slip on stainer off the drain. And also I reduced the flow back to the display tank to about 4x the display tank. Now just hope the neighbor downstairs doesn't have a flood. Most of the water was caught with rags and towels.

I haven't really been keeping up with the updates on the tank. Aside from trying to figure out what's ticking off some of my sps, the tank is off to a great start. Decided to add a retrofit T5 4 bulb setup in addition to the Evergrow LEDs I have on there. Made the fixture out of 1/2x1 and still have to put the moulding on it after it gets painted.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Fantastic addition on the lighting.

Do you think your coral problems could be related to insufficient lighting acclimation. IME Montipora are the first to show the signs.

thank you! um....i don't think so but honestly I don't know, maybe. the reason I say no is because it's the same intensity lighting from the beginning and my red monti did grow to what it is now. or what's left of it now with the same lighting. so I have no clue. maybe the LEDs are starting to burn out falling out of spectrum and we are starting to see the longevity of the eBay Evergrow units? I know a few people here use the same units with great similar results. The retrofit kit I just added after lights out last night. so today will be the first day with the new additional lighting and I also tuned back the LEDs. The pic I took was with the lights on for a min or two while I tuned the LEDs.

This tank is going to take a drastic turn. After being fed up with worrying about my external recirc skimmer overflowing when I'm away for periods of time, I am strongly debating going back to biopellets and throwing the skimmer in the fuge section where I have the massive chaeto growing. This would mean getting rid of the chaeto :-( but at the same time will give me peace of mind while away. I was using with the old tank TLF NPX pellets. This time I'm thinking of Ecobak instead. Any thoughts?

My latest update with the tank. Since summer time has hit here in NYC the A/C has had to come on. Only problem with that is that it seems my apartment doesn't have enough "fresh air" causing my PH to sink to 7.6!! I hooked up a reactor today with some TLF CDX carbon dioxide media in hopes that through the skimmer it will correct that dip at night. I also use Kalk in my ATO but that doesn't seem to do enough of a trick at night. Anyone else had issues like this before? I don't remember having this problem when I had my 55 gal set up.
