So are you saying that even though I did this out of the tank and washed it with really hot water, then torched it, then washed it in really hot water, that wasn't enough?

The little bitsy-bits are still in your tank. Keeping your nitrates and phosphates in check is the only real answer.

yeah, they've been holding pretty steady for a LONG time, but I just got concerned about them recently for some reason and decided to make an attempt. I'm hoping it stops at this but one was gonna bust soon, so thought I'd give it a shot. I held them under running hot water as I cut them off, then torched them for a good bit, then ran under hot water again. I'm sure I missed some. So I'll add the coralprofx I've had for awhile tomorrow and we will wait and see. wish me luck

I just recently overcame an infestation.Thousands of them. I now have about 2. Manually removing the larger ones and Emerald Crabs did the trick for me.;)

Do you have larger Emeralds, Vinny? I have three smaller ones, and they don't seem to be able to tear the bubbles off. They are doing a number on the red viney stuff, though. Increasing my return pump flow, increasing the amount of light on the chaeto, and running a little Phosguard has the bubble algae melting away.

Emeralds never did anything for me. Manual removal works best. You can nuke em, bleach em, torch em, etc...they will come back. I have read multiple times that bubble will come with perfect params...one of the few algae's that can survive in a ULNS. It takes time and patience, but you can and will overcome it!..and if you don't, UPGRADE! ;D

I actually purchased the smallest ones I could find.My friend at the LFS experimented with Emeralds and found the smaller ones were more apt to eat the bubbles. Not sure why.I also chose all females with his recomendation.(His theory was they are generally less aggresive) I had my doubts that Emeralds were the solution but I did 1 manual removal of all I could reach without removing any rocks and the Emeralds did the rest. I was quite impressed. My tank had 2 large bubbles which I removed and the rest are completely gone.;) With that being said I did add 8 Emeralds to the tank.It was our shared opinion that the reason Emeralds don't work for everyone is there is usually other kinds of edible algaes in the system and the Emeralds will not eat the Bubble algae unless there is no other algae for them to eat.Which seems to have been the case as it took about 2 months for them to consume them all. Luckily it is easy for me to supplement their diet now all the consumable algae(for the most part) has dissapeared with algae wafers. My tank looked alot like yours Jerry,I had probably close to a thousand Bubbles at one point maybe more.

ugg, didn't realize this was such an issue, so far on day 1 no reoccurrence lol

And vin, I'm gonna get a few emeralds and hope they don't like LPS, ;) Odd thing is, is that I can't grow algae at all, I can barely keep cheato alive. I have to spot feed my urchins and snails, it sucks. But I loved my last few emeralds till the CBS killed them all. I had one that would come out and pinch me and hang on while i fed him, it was fun till he got big and then it kinda hurt, lol. Lets hope I follow your guys successes;)
thanks for the heads up and advice
