    lol...that is too funny.

Yeah, I have been around this biz for awhile and I can usually tell where people are getting stuff from. I am sure you will be happy with your lights. Have you ordered them?

You have to be careful where you say PSL...some forums will just go off on tangents about PSL. Personally, I have had two experiences and in both, I was more than pleased.

Hey got my lights from PSL today. Nice fixture but missing the ballast and the legs that I paid for. Also, they sent me a 10K bulb when I ordered a 20K...Beware!

Sorry to hear that Mike....perhaps those other items shipped in a seperate box that you will receive tommorrow!

They contacted me today to say that the custom light assemblies typically take 2 weeks before they ship. That would mean shipping on or about next monday.

I will let the forum know the status, quality, etc.....once my shipment arrives (I hope it arrives...)

Let us know if you do receive your other stuff in a day or two so I know not to explode if I also do not receive the items....

I received my lighting assembly with the external ballast yesterday. I was doing the initial burn-in of the MH bulbs and had a question:

Is an external ballast supposed to heat up, and if so, should it be just warm, somewhat hot to the touch, or very hot?

After 3 hours of running, my ballast was somewhat hot to the touch....kind of like holding an hot mug of coffee on the outside (but just slightly less hot that you don't have to let it go). Not sure if this is normal (my guess is it is) but if it is, it may affect the placement. I wanted to place this below my tank next to the sump...

    Any thoughts?

Its a magnetic ballast and they do get very hot. If you were to touch the coil on the actual ballast, it would burn you. I have my ballast down by my sump with no problems. Some people put magnetic ballasts outside of the cabinetry for ventilation reasons.

How did the light turn out?

BTW, they only offered me a $70 credit on a $360 fixture, if I sent it back! I hate those SOB's! I hope their company folds!

The light turned out great! One of the leads popped out of the wire nut, but that was an easy fix. Also, I was sent 4 36W PC actinics. They sent me their phone number when I emailed about that. I just called them and they were very helpful....as it turns out, because I ordered a custom 42" hood, both 2-36W (16 inches each) and 2-65W (23inches) bulbs cannot fit in the hood. They apologized for telling me the wrong thing and are sending me some 36W 10Ks for free. I lose 58 watts total, but judging from the intensity of the 150W HQIs during the burn-in, there will be plenty of light. I can also upgrade to 175W HQI with my current ballast to get back 50watts......

I will take a picture later to post! Really, I think the light assembly was pretty much a good deal!

HQI doesn't always equal DE, MacN. Mine are in a mogul socket (SE) ;)

I thought about the 150 HQI's. Should do really well. I went with the Dual 250's because at the time they were running a special on Hamilton [Roe's Marine World]. Bulbs are priced right also. Have two vho's also. I've seen some run 400 watts.
