So the Latz looks at the Picasso and laments about its market price.

Latz: You know 10 months ago our retail price was in the 500's
    Picasso: So what happened?
Latz: Mostly over production, basic economics supply and demand.
    Picasso: Really! that can happen?
Latz: Don't believe me, try Hawaii, on better days we're $125 and on slow days $100 or below.
Picasso: Us percs used to be $10 fish until some smart guy in ORA created us and guess what! depending
on the white markings on our body we are now a $200 fish and with newer and better markings we are a $300 fish.
    Latz: White markings?
    Picasso: Yup!
    Latz: What white markings?
Picasso: See those photos, cousin AL has white touching all bars he's worth a great deal just like me, 2nd
cousin Emma and Sal have "keyhole" markings they're worth a whole lot. Then there is Ben and Tom and the
rest we call designer clowns. For cry'in out loud even they are worth more than you.
Latz: You think I might ever be a $500 fish again?
Picasso: Not unless some smart guy in Maine or Chicago reinvents you.... or you happen to be sub-tropical Aussie Latz
    [IMG]
    Latz: How?
Picasso: Well! our cousins the $10 Clarkii recently got reinvented; Picasso Clarkii $235; Blue Spotted Clarkii $245.

Then there's this smart gal up in NC very nice lady she calls us Snowcassos, and boy we've be in the mid
to high 200's for over 3years, another website calls us Super Whites mid 200's again. There's also the Scarlet
    Picasso $275
    [IMG]
Latz: Holy Mackerel! could you help me visualize a $500 me...
Picasso: Well fortunately for you some smart guy out in Maine already has and when he succeeds your glory days will return.
Latz: See that grey sky above well! its not looking so good.
Picasso: Patience, I hear this nice gal and her husband up in Chicago have some really good plans too.
    Latz: Oh yah!
Picasso: Yup! and they also have some really nice Brazilian Colored Seahorses, like these ones.
Latz: I guess its not all that gloomy after all, I see the light on your side.

Hybridizing /Guppyfication is a good thing, its the smart thing to do. The potential from hybridizing, producing unique one of a kind Clownfish is tremendous, but most of all hybridization happens in nature, most Clownfish experts agree that the Leucokranos and Thiellei are proof of hybridization in nature. You can learn more about Clownfish and or Clownfish cross species paring by asking my friends at iBluewater.

I couldn't agree more, but that was the price for rarity, not anymore....

Thanks, its good news for hobbyist who can now get a Latz for about $125, but certainly very bad news for breeders who see their investment go down the tubes...

At the rate Clownfish breed rarity is but for a fleeting moment, its only good business for breeders to managed their resources thoughtfully.
