Left of X, notice my surface skimmer attachment.

On the third rock down going left of X notice my anthelia.

That was like the first coral I got and it's spreading and I'm coral placement smarter now and I want that nice little shelf for something that could make better use of a shelf like that. Getting rid of the anthelia was vetoed by the family. ;)

So, given the spreading concerns of this most resilient coral, I'm thinking of fragging a piece to the surface skimmer and letting it cover that however it wants. I think it would be very easy to cut it back from this as it is easy to remove the cup. I actually think this is a fantastic way to keep this weedish coral.

I realize I'll have to keep it trimmed below the intake slots enough so that the tentacles don't clog them.

Am I missing something or is this a good idea?

I myself would get rid of it because it can become a nuisance real quick. But if the family is voting to keep it then I think your hands are tied.

My pulsing xenias are in a corner where I try to keep it under control. I do let it grow on the back corner of the glass tank.
