    Hello everyone:

Its been a while since Ive been posting on this forum. I guess I have been busy with summer. I see some new names here and want to welcome all the new people here. Im sure you will all find awnsers to all your questions here. The great staff here at 3reef.com are the ones that helped me with my first saltwater tank a few years ago. Please do support the site with donatons to their paypal account. Just 10 or 20 bucks is all that is needed and its a great way to say thanks for all the help. It also helps with the cost to run the website. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Yep those are GSP. I have them also starting to cover my overflow box.
As for the bleached sps...well its really stupid. I dont have a auto top off on my tank so I manually add ro water. Well I used to just put the ro hose in the sump and set the timer for half an hour to remind me to remove it. Well I ordered my percocet from the docter that morning and they called to tell me that the prescription was ready...well I just completly forgot that I was filling my sump with the RO hose and took off to Salmon Creek Clinic to pick-up my paperwork for my prescription then drove to Fred Meyer pharmacy to fill it....where I waited the 25 minuts for them to fill it. When I got home I had about 3 gallons overflowed on the floor. Well thats not to bad but my salinity was .027 because the water had evaporated in he tank and it was pretty low on water...say 8 gallons low. I had planned to only add 5 gallons. Well the change in salinity from .027 to.020 was a little hard on the SPS and they expelled their algea. My Torch and Frogspawn also started to bleach but only lost mabey 1/4 to1/2 their color. They recovered quickly but the few sps that I had turned white. My Yellow Eye Tang had a few ICK spots the next day and my skimmer went nutts with all the slime from the sps. They just slimed all over everything in there when they expelled their Zooanthelle (Hey did I spell that right?). The SPS are starting to color up but it looks like they will be brown for a while.

Pretty hard lesson huh. Well I have a plastic trash can with a auto shut off float now so that wont happen again.

Very nice! In your first post, you said you were going steelhead fishing in the Lewis river. Any chance that is the same Lewis River that has a nice steelhead run in S.W. Washington? I ask because I live in Vancouver, Washington and love fishing the Lewis. GL out there

Don't feel so bad. I've had auto top off issues in the past which caused a few of my sps corals to bleach. I'm so tired of learning from my mistakes :)

Monacle...small world huh. Yes the north fork is hot right now for steelhead. I saw 3 caught Saturday morning and 4 caught thursday. Where do you live in Vancouver? I live near Clark College. What kind of tank do you keep? Have any corals to trade perhaps? ;D

Amcarrig: I hate to admit that this not the first time Ive done this while filling from my RO unit. I have overfilled my trashcan by 3 hours before. Thats a whole lotta water on the carpet. That time I uh, well lets just say I fell asleep after having a cocktail or 2. grin : -)

Before I had an auto top off, it took me flooding the basement a few times before I caught on and started setting the oven timer and putting the r.o. bucket in the sink while it was filling. I guess it's just the bane of a reefer's existence.
