I noticed a neat feature about my aquarium the other day. I originally bought it as a cichlid tank, as I had no experience with SW. It was reef ready with a 50 gallon acrylic sump built in, with dividers and an underlying grid. I got it from an Asian fish store but as I have gotten into the hobby I realize this thing has all the extras which I had no idea about when I bought it. It was a steal. I wanted to make sure I was reef ready in case I got froggy and decided to jump into SW.

Anyways I love everything about this tank, minus a small detail. But the idea behind it seems genius. I have an acrylic tank with ~.5 inches thick walls. However, there is a really neat feature that I think might be helpful to those building a tank. It has ~1/8 thick layer of acrylic on the inside and outside of the tank walls. So there is essentially an wall of 3 layers of acrylic. I am assuming this is for scratches, cracks, explosions etc.

The only problem with mine is there are a couple smudges on the acrylic B/T the panes so I cannot clean them without disassembling the tank adhesives and crap.

Just thought I might mention this to anyone building a tank, as this seems like a great idea to prevent disasters... Hope this helps : )
