I am planning on setting up a 120 gallon reef tank with corals that require moderate light. does anyone know what type of light would be best for this? also somewhere cheap that sells them?

Well, this is a very debated subject. Just search lighting in this site, your gonna stummble upon many diferent scenarios, im sure they would give you a good idea of what you whant. The best so far proven for many years is Metal Halides, and T5's. Led systems are out, but its very, very expensive.
Let me know if you got any more questions.

Depending on the length of your tank 5 or 6 feet and the depth of the tank, and What type of corals you want to keep and last but not least, your level of competency in DIY projects.... That is a loaded question. :)
If you are looking for good and cheap then your best bet is to get some metal halide retrofit kits. Its cheaper than buying a complete fixture and you'll get the most light for your money. I would build your own canopy and install the lighting inside of it. Using retrofit kits and remote ballasts to keep the heat down. Then add VHO, T5 HO or pc actinic supplementation.

Read through the lighting forum, as this question has been asked quite a few times  When you get an Idea of what you want to do then come back and ask more specific questions as this one is very broad and it's like giving a loaded gun to an eight year old who has only watched western tv shows.
    Enjoy,
