    Good Evening all.

So I just added a Hippo Tang to my tank tonight. (none yellow belly, I gave up.) Anyway my sailfin is really giving him a hard time. (Salfin is a little bigger then the hippo. I was told these two should be able to coexist together.. I turned off the lights a bit early tonight to try to keep stress low. Do you think I'll be ok with this combo???

I had that combo and they seemed to do fine. However the salfin was added last. Salfins can be a little more teritorial however I think they should be ok. Leave the lights off tonight and see how they do tomorrow

That combination will be fine just give them some time. I personally have a hippo sailfin naso and yellow in the same tank.

It will take a day or so for dominance to be established then all will be ok.

good to hear.. I was just trying to make the transport as stress free as possible.. All was going well until the sailfin stepped in. It's a medium size hippo.. about 3-4 inches. hoping the little guy can handle the stress.. I've always done better with larger hippos.

Ya, I added my sailfin after my orange shoulder and the OST picked on the sailfin. But a week or so later I added a fox face and the sailfin kicked the crap out of him for about half a day. Now they get along great. I call them the three musketeers cuz they swim everywhere together.

Nice- The hippo is one of my favorite fish. I had one that was about 5 inches for a while. I lost him and replaced him with a small one maybe 2 inches.. That thing lasted a day. Here's to hoping this one sticks in there for a while.

Update--- Well this could be my interpretation but the Hippo is pretty much still in hiding after a week and the sailfin seems to do swim byes just to make sure he is still in his place.. The Hippo is one of my fav fish. I'd hat to have to do a drive by with my net and scoop him out of there! ;)

Today seems better. I put in a new Naso, about 3-4 inches and he seems to have distracted the sailfin and now the hippo seems to be braving the open water! The Salfin went after the Naso at fist but the Naso just stood his groud as if to say.. You better back up off me! Anyway. I think we have peace in the tank for now.

Excellent news! And that is a great thing about the naso tangs. One of the last fish that would ever go after anything, but one of the last fish any other fish would want to start something with ;)
