I spent a few minutes with a Maxspect Celestial LED prototype at Reef-A-Palooza last weekend and had fun tinkering with it. The latest Maxspect is due next month and is reported to be available in 30 and 70 watts of multichip LED starting at only $199. This little thing puts out some light and appears to have the same push and spin type controller as the R420R and Mazarra. It was a bit exhausting trying to configure it with that dial - there are a ton of options to go through: 5 channels of color settings as well as power percentages. Once that was done I did admire the crisp blue light and the lens does a great job with spread too. Some may lament the heavy CoralVue plastic wrap treatment - a bit odd with something with the Maxspect name - but many others will enjoy this light for money.
