I am not concerned about being sued. The point is the guy tried so hard not to be copied and I signed the paper saying I agreed to his conditions. ? of integrity

No worries, although there are schematics on this thread :) - I understand the integrity thing. Please keep in touch about your filter experience if you would though.

The grow area is 6 inches by 3 feet. Can't remember what size it is rated for I bought the largest size that seemed the most economical (about $200) Some were quite expensive and some were double wide. I just purchased 4 red and 2 blue rebel leds that I am going to use above the scrubber. Thinking I should have gotten one royal blue and one regular blue to do my own test to see if there would be a difference. From what I have read so far freshwater green algae has chlorophylls a and b and a likes royal blue and b likes blue. I am just in the first stages of putting this all back together so results will have to wait. Side note Jameco has a meanwell led driver (LPLC-18-700) that I hope will drive the six rebels for only $14 and it doesn't require a power supply. Will see. Might add more light waiting see what happens with what I just bought. Hope this helps. What light concentration and water flow rate would anyone recommend?

Cool - doing a little LED conversion on it eh? Just for kicks or was there an issue with the original light?
What does the manual recommend for water flow?

Thanks for the reply. To save money you could purchase the unit without the light which is what I did. I don't remember even getting a manual. I am thinking that matching the right flow with the right amount of light will be key to keeping ph shifts to a min. and to some extent my success. I want to have eventually a planted tank with an amazon like biotope i.e. discus, cardinal tetras, and sword plants. Thanks for any help.

I might be able to save you some time and frustration, unless you are purely experimenting, in which case messing is fun.

If you want result (high filtering), you don't want a horizontal.
