I am Babytank, as I have only a 20 gal. I have wanted a salt for years! I did very well with freshwater, and finally made the jump. I have no fish yet, as I am deciding who to get. My tank is stable with live rock, a turbo snail,a little green crab,a hermit crab and a brittle star. They all seem very happy. I have sooo much to learn, but I am committed to these little creatures!

    Hi and welcome to 3reef!
Best of luck to you as you make the switch!
Did your tank cycle through completely?
Reading and asking alot of questions is the best advice I can give and go slow with your actions!
    Have fun and enjoy!

"...As surprising as it may seem your tank will look ugly at first. This happens to all new marine aquariums as they cycle through their initial filtration phase. Your tank may go brown, and then green, and then red, and then just look junky. It happens. Consequently the one coral you really want to keep may not live. You may struggle to raise the prize fish you originally intended to acquire. It's okay; just learn to love whatever is working for you. Remember, not only is this a hobby, but we are keeping living ecosystems. Special efforts should be put forth to enjoy and appreciate what we are keeping, whatever it may be. It takes time and patience to turn a glass box full of rock into a beautiful, thriving reef tank..."

    Good Luck!!!

WELCOME, and as mentioned before go slow and ask lots of questions! Do your research and go from there. The only things that happen quickly in saltwater are bad things and bank account drains!!

Thanks to all for all the welcomes!

Thanks for all the book titles, Gnarly Old Codfish! My tank has been cylcling for half of April and all of May. I have aquarium 6 strip water tester to start, and have been taking water in to be tested at the shop for amonia every week.
I am collecting more things as I learn.
I purchased two live rocks (cured) at the beginning of June. Right now they are pretty bare.
I am a little concerned about some teeny weeny little white creatures who look like lint, darting around on the glass. They seem to have come with the rocks. Should I be concerned?
I will look through the suggested titles of the books for sure, as I only have a beginners guide that I outgrew quickly.
Thanks again all for welcomming me, you all seem so knowlegeable and nice!
