Sorry to hear about the Flame Angel. I have had terrible luck with them. I have tried 3 different times with them, and all 3 never made it out of my QT. 2 were fine for weeks, then infected with Ich and died shortly after. Another died after only being in there for 3 days. No idea why as it looked perfectly healthy.

Congrats on the new equipment though!

 

that is one heck of a skimmer!! and what a great tank and setup! definitley liking the outside vibe.

Sorry to hear about the losses. Unfortunately, it does happen. always a bummer though


as for the diatom/algae. that happens with new tanks and also, sometimes when adding in lots of new equipment. what is your water source?? RODI would obviously be the best choice. But, I do realize you may have access issues.

 

And you said your outdoor tank has indirect sunlight for an hour a day? If its outside, and you can visually see it, it is getting indirect sunlight. If the sun is out, it's getting hit. That will create more algae problems.

My tank is in the basement now. If the lights in the room are off, it's pitch black. Better than where I used to have it in a brightly lit room, always had trouble with algae. Outside must be tough.

But otherwise your doing a great job so far. Looks great. Must be tough waiting for international deliveries. I want my stuff now!

i am planning to buy an RODI unit once i shift my tanks to new house till then ll fight with the algae

yeah thats the problem that the tank is outside but dont worry not many months left till the tanks gets its new place
