Ok not sure where to put this. I'm having my tank done and for my coast 2 coast should i have it jagged edged or not. Cant really remember beside stopping fish , but the last time i lost more snails about 35% of them to my overflow that any fish. It might be a detail but for cutting its big bucks at the factory, yet loosing snails after snails and in a closed loop this time around and i the drains. Not sure any opinions.

by jagged edged do you mean like a strainer to keep snails and fish out? That would certainly help, because I have lost several fish to my cost to coast and have to pull snails out daily. Also, for what its worth, I hate how much space my coast to coast takes up (sticking out from the back glass), so My next tank will just have an overflow just wide enough to cover the holes, not run the entire length of the tank.

Yes thats what i met and mine is only 1 1/2" wide and 4-5" deep C2C just enought to let the water fall through holes and then exterior overflowboxes, 24 X 6 x 9 . How deep is yours.

mines a 4x4x48. I really like the idea of the external overflow so it doesnt take up so much space on the inside. Wish I would have done that now.

From what i've red so far

Ok well the verdic from what i've red so far NO, most of the litterature says the jagged edge not only don't stop the snails and fish to go in the overflow but its defeats the purpose of the C2C altogether which to skim the surface at the very edge of the surface. The jagged edge would disturbe that process rendering the whole fixture useless. so there! C2C will be smooth, thanks guys for your input. Oh and to stop snails, anemones and fish, screen are available for bulkhead and syphons.
