As for your fuge, just make sure you can cut the flow down to it as it will work best if you only run about 1/10 the flow across it from your display. 100g tank = 10 gph of flow. You have ttoogive time for the nutrients to settle out in the water.

I considered running a T down from the overflow, one part straight to return and the other to the skimmer and if I had to slow the flow reduce to the skimmer side I guess.

I had a few other designs that I was considering as well which seemed to better accommodate this flow reduction with T thing but I like this design better.

I also figured the 1/2" places for the water to go thru instead of 1" would help with slowing the flow... maybe?

    Suggestions?

Id go with a T you want un-skimmed water getting to your fuge also or it can potentially starve your macro's

Can check out my build thread to see how I did mine if you want

My theory was that not all of the water going to the skimmer area is actually getting skimmed...

I'll take a look at yours.

Okay now that I look at it, it was one that I was looking at closely when I was trying to decide what style to go with. I was wondering how your J type intake think worked out to lessen the bubbles? I was going to do that as well.

Alright after some changes, such as being able to control flow, I've changed the design a bit. I also think that I can go with a 20gal tank which will fit under my display tank, instead of being cheap and using the 10gal & 5gal I'm going to splurge.

What do you all think about this design? Make sure you look at the "top view" so you can sort of envision what's going on when you look at the "side view" because when you look at the side view it looks like there's two refugiums when there's really only one, you just can't tell by looking at the side view. Hope this makes sense.

    I appreciate your input!

Caulerpa can be a problem but it can also be kept from going asexual by heavily trimming it. I have also heard that running lights 24/7 keeps it from causing trouble. I keep it in my seahorse tank but I also have two Rock urchins that keep it in check, in fact the last time I checked they had pretty well decimated it.

    Hi there

I momentarily placed Calerpa in my Fuge, till I read a few articles about its rabbit-like reproductive nature. I was sold on the idea that if I put it in my Fuge, there is a high likelihood that it will eventually be all over the place in my display, and flushed it to the Delaware!
