I recently helped 3reef’s own rocketmandb move corals from his old twin 175 gallon aquariums to his new 370 gallon cube tank in his new home. I have to blush a little as I recall how stressed I was moving my nano aquarium. Darren handled it well with only the occasional pause. There were six of us, about 20 plastic totes and numerous buckets involved. We used every one of them. Click through to see all the pictures and progression of Darren’s shirt. :)

As a nano guy, I was struck by the scale of the tank, the rocks and the fish. Some of the rocks were bigger than bowling balls. That was hard to process. They would smash my tank, but they actually looked great in their new home.

Darren has a lot of coral, some rocks as shown were covered in acropora. We filled the tote as much as we could with water and still transport them.

The new aquarium is a stunner and had me in awe. Take my Neo Nano cube and multiply it by several fold until it is 5’x5’x2’. Amazingly his aquarium is quieter than mine as it is hard-piped to the floor below where a 240 gallon sump lives.

I loved the beefy light mount for Darren’s new array of Hydra LED lamps. You could probably hang off of that. Also note that it moves away for cleaning. Nice touch.

Darren prepped for coral moving day by setting up his new tank with a lot of aquarium water from his old tank when he moved the sump prior. This was a big time saver.

    THE PROGRESSION OF DARREN’S SHIRT

One blotch of water, grew into several which eventually morphed into the Pangaea of wetness shown. :)

    THE REWARD

By the end of the day, Darren had his tank mostly moved and I walked away with a fresh ball of chaeto, several acros and a couple montipora. That’s karma. Big thanks to Darren! 8) Cheers.

I hope you enjoyed the pics!

God I wish I could pull that off in my one story... Can't wait to see this bad boy loaded up.

Definitely a stressful thing to go through- I've had my fair share of moves and they are never fun, but once everything is done and you realize you didn't kill anything in the process it is a great feeling of accomplishment.

T-minus 6 months til I have to move both my 40g breeder and 30g biocube :freak3:

Very nice documentary Matt. I like the Comraderie too.
No beer involved?- That's the Texan in me LOL.

I only hope my transfer goes as easy.

I've seen RM's thread, great stuff, awesome cube.

    Thanks John. :)

Man you have a good point there Todd.
Pizza was provided and the frags were generous so I think that makes up for it.

Wow. That first coral covered rock is bigger than my entire tank! I don't think I would be able to handle that move lol.

Pizza or beer? Now that's a hard decision.
