Am in the process of getting a 300g poly water tank(WT) to store NSW to make WC's faster and easier. Am planning on using a Magdrive 24(MG) to pump the water to the tank. The thing is, there is approximately 41' from the WT to the tank. The MG shuts off at 20' of head. What I dont remember is if the "head" is only for vertical pressure or horizontal or both?
For the most part, the hose from the WT will be laying on the ground until it reaches the tank and then go up about 4'.
I know that the higher I raise the WT, the better it will be to "push" the water to the tank. My question is, is the MG going to be able to pump the water 41' to the tank with enough pressure or will I need a better pump?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Whats a better pump? Whats a better solution?

Head pressure is only vertical. You will have a bit of loss going through the line, but not that much. You will have plenty of flow.

+1 on Powerman, and Daniel I have used very small pumps to push water a long way in the horizontal

thats not much of a climb , I believe you will be fine with what you have

You get head loss no matter the direction of the plumbing. The pipe itself introduces friction on the water which causes back pressure to some extent.

The head loss calculator I checked says 41' horizontal and 4' vertical results in about 11.5' head loss which should result in about 1000 gph from a mag 24. Keep in mind that any elbows etc also introduce head loss as well. I doubt it's 100% accurate but I think you're probably fine regardless, that's a big pump.

Thats great info regardless how accurate it is. BTW, its 41' in total. So it would be 37' of horizontal "head" pressure and 4' of vertical "head" pressure. So far, the response is good news for me, thanks. Luna
