    HI,
I thought I would try a new approach and ask questions before buying something to find out it kills everything.
Anyone have bad experiences with those pistol shrimp, I ve seen a couple web pages state they love to dig in the sand, that may be good and bad, I have a bout 5 inches of sand in my 55.
Are the best kept alone, I have 4-5 peppermint, one skunk shrimp and a small banded coral shrimp a couple emerald crabs and a very fat LM blemmy who's to uggly for words hehe
A tang , to many fish to list mostly clowns and few of those chroms couple serpants stars .

Sounds like it would not be an issue at all.
I have mine and love it even though I only see it every once in a while.
Get yourself a nice goby to go with it :)

Your pistol is perfectly capable of taking down and eating your other shrimp and maybe even your crab. Other than that, they're pretty safe. If you've got 5 inches of sand, it's considered a deep sand bed and you do not want any critters burrowing into it or you'll defeat the purpose of the deep sand bed.

But they make such a cute popping noise :p

I have 6 sexy shrimp, and so far they are all not dead :)

^^hows that for an enlightening stament^^

Id try to get the Randalls instead of the tiger, and DONT get the bullseye! The latter doesnt pair with gobies and gets bigger than tigers if im not mistaken.

BTW, ill take the ugly LM blenny if you dont want it

If those shrimp were to go anywhere near the pistol's burrow, they would become lunch, period :) Sexy shrimp tend to stay put once they find a place to hang out, usually an anemone or a coral that resembles an anemone. Cleaner shrimp, however, tend to wander.

thats the truth, but i have not had a problem. i have two diff. speices in one tank and they are fine. but again sexy's are small...

but pistols also solve alot of problems because they sift the sand and eat any uneaten food.

I have a hitchhiker pistol and had no problems but I hate the noise it makes and I have a missing cleaner shrimp! If I can get the pistol out I will, it hides out in my LR and it breaks my LR to build it's tunnels.

You should ship the pistol to me or monkey :)

BTW, hey monkey, do you know if pistols are transexual or do they have pre-determined sex?

I think that the word you're looking for is "hermaphroditic." This is a transexual
