I am happy to report I have successfully moved my reef tank without any loss. I was so stressed and worried that I would lose some of my favorite inhabitants but they all made it through. Thanks to everyone that posted their experiences that I was able to learn from. Next time I will not be so worried.
I also bought a new refractometer which I intend to put to good use. All I need to do now is rinse my new sand and add that as right now my tank is bare bottom. I am off to do a search about adding sand to a existing tank setup.

    Thanks again everyone.

good news Ishy, thats a weight if your mind now

there must be many different ways people use to add sand, having recently done it myself
I can share the way I did it with you

I used a 1 inch diameter PVC pipe about 6 inches longer than my tank depth
a 1 litre measuring jug with spout
    a funnel

cleaned the new argonite (fine grade) with RODI
then using small QTY at a time in the jug added some tank water to get it moving
and poured it in the funnel and down the pipe

kept the pipe low, so no sand would drift onto any corals
and angled it so as to get sand to go into gaps between the rocks

Thanks divott, and thanks for the info Steve. I was planning on taking all the lower corals and inverts out of the DT and putting them into my QT tank until I am done so I wont cover them up and then doing the funnel and sand method. First I have to clean the sand. I have my 7 year old daughter that wants to help. My daughter loves to help with the tank. She knows how to feed and can explain how we do water changes to friends. Her favorite is water testing. I will do the chemicals but she gives me the reading (I verify the reading). She keeps asking to do the water tests without me but I dont want her to use the chemicals. I may have a budding chemist on my hands.

Well I did it I now have sand substrate. I really like it. The sand looks so much better than the crushed coral I used to have. I will post pics as soon as I can find my camera. My wife packed it away somewhere before the move.
