Need more help. I added sand last night and water is still cloudy. I put sponge in between the bubble plates to help with micro bubbles but it was backing up the chamber. Try to use water polishing pads to help clear up the water too and the seems to have help a little but again the water backs up in the chamber. I need some information as to what i need to have in the sump as far as normal filtration.

    Micron sock, ????
    Carbon????
    Filterpad???
    Anything else????

    HELP!!!!!

The cloudyness may take a couple days to clear up. Slow the flow down in the tank and dont worry about it. I normally turn off powerheads but leave the return pump from my sump on.

I don't have any form of mechanical filtration in my tank other than a protein skimmer. You don't really need anything else IMO.

I don't like mechanical filtration all the time. I put a filter sock on my overflow plumbing every once in a while (month or two) for a day or so to clean things up but to me it's just more stuff to clean/maintain and isn't worth the effort.

I do keep live rock in my sump though just to add to filtration and as a dark refuge for pods etc.

So if i have the water overflowing into my sump section, passing through the bubble baffles and into the return section i should be fine?

Also, I used 3/4 pvc for the overflow...would this be cause the micro bubbles in my tank? or am i ok with what i have...

I really would hate to have to take everything apart again..
