I just purchased a yellow eyed Kole tang today. I also have a Yellow tang. The girl at LFS said that they may not get along since I didn't add them together. The Kole was such a nice, heathly one and at a decent price that I decided to take the chance since my yellow never bother any of the other fish. They are about the same size except when the yellow extends his fins. After acclimating him with lights off, I added him into the tank. Few moments later the yellow one noticed he was there and went to investigate. He started to bother him, running him around until I decided to move around some of the rocks on one side of tank. Immediate the yellow noticed the change and stayed on the left side of the tank peeking over to see what the kole was doing. Now the kole is hanging around the right side making moves at the yellow as if to warn him to stay on his side.

After an hour later, now the kole is swimming around with the yellow sometimes bothering him. NOW the kole is kinda acting like he is trying to ignore him and swimming around. The yellow is still acting tuff, but they aren't fighting.

Does anyone have any experience with these two types of tangs?? Will they end up getting along?? I have 72 hours to return him if things don't go well. Thanks

Mine are getting along and never had a problem and I had the yellow already in the tank before the kole. But then again I have 4 tangs in the same tank with no problem. I had 5 but the purple just wouldn't cooperate. I think you should be fine.

Kole and Yellows tend to hang out in the wild. I foresee no problems. Just keep an eye on them.

The scenario that presents the greatest chance for aggression between Tangs occurs when the same species of Tangs are added apart from one another. Normally, you may experience some form of toughness out of the Tang that has been in the tank the longest upon adding another Tang species, but that should quickly subside.
I have had a Yellow Tang for years...since that time I have added a Naso and a Tomini Tang with no problems!

I have a kole and a large getting much larger sailfin zebrasoma in my 90g. The sailfin was there first, and this particular sailfin is so gentle that he does not ahev an aggro bone in him. The sailfin and the kole swim around together, that started almost immediately.
