I love how my live rocks are full of pleasant surpises, chaning colors, new sponge/corals developing, etc. Today I saw a very small starfish. It must've hitchhiked on a live rock. It's white on the body and gray on teh back. Are star fish generally considered a pest?

Thanks. It definitely looks like an asterina. My 7yr old son will be mighty disappointed if I told him that I got to get rid of it. He was so excited to spot it last night.

We have some in our tanks. My mantis tank has one (well it had one anyways) and we used to have several in our bigger tank.

I think they eventually die off in the tank, but they've never caused us any problems. I say leave him in there so your son can be proud of his star fishy :D
