    i was just wondering if they used an algae scrubber.never seemed like a good idea to me.after seeing those pictures and hearing the history.i would'nt want the job of trying to fix that mess.

    Jeez, somebody kicked up an old one!

    They did not use a scrubber... intentionally that I was aware of. (Edit, although re-reading Curtis' post, I guess they did to some extent.)
    There was a nice wavemaker though.

    Last I heard, this whole deal is for sale.

    I think they used tap water for top off, and it's still ran by the UoA

    No, it was supposedly a completely enclosed biosphere. The water that evaporated from the "ocean" was to condense and rain to water the "tropical rain forest".
