    Put 6-7 3-4" fish in a 46.

Yeah I was probably a bit liberal with that. Just trying to stay optimistic. Probably better to have 6 3" fish than
A yellow tang in that tank though.
5 small fish would probably be a better guess. Depends on the fish. Bottom line, that tang will not be happy in that small of a tank, and neither will its tank mates due to aggression from the tang. Sorry about all the bad news and all but it's just how it is.:(

Depends alot on the rock too! I felt my 46 was pretty crowded with 3 small fist but i had about 80-100 lbs of LR.

It's all relative. 3 neon gobys wouldn't be near stocked but 3 flame angels would be horribly overstocked. It all depends on the fish.

Holy Cow ditto on this! I'm looking for a bigger tank right now for a small yellow tang, a flame angel, 2 small clowns and a chromis, and i feel thats overstocked! But fighting a battle with ich and all my fish are great friends, no fighting! After tearing my tank apart to get out 2 yellowtails that were *******s and stressing the rest out! Like the rest of us, either accept you can't keep that many fish, get a bigger tank, or let them die and buy more while dropping alot of cash trying to keep them alive! It sucks, but thus is how it goes!

based on my time and research on many forums including this one, the tang tank sizes are a constant battle between people. its a very sensitive subject. i personally dont believe a tang belongs in anything under 75 gallons and most tangs shouldnt even be in that.

i say your pushing it for one tang let along 7 fish that are similar sized. and i will tell you once that condy gets bigger even if you have 6 fish in that tank in a couple months it will be down to 3, they wille at your fish.

if you really want these fish and you want to really enjoy them,i would go with 125 to 200 gallons the 200 would be better i know its not what ya want to hear but you will be glad you did in the long run. you can use the 46 for a grow out tank thats a + to ;)
