I just bought a 5 stage RO/DI plus system with drinking water kit from Bulk Reef Supply. My question is... How much wast water is produced? Does the water stop flowing when the drinking water tank is full or I turn of the DI part of the system? Thanks in advance for your replies!

I think the ratio is supposed to be 4:1 (waste:purified). As far as the automatic shut off, I'd imagine you would have to have some sort of automatic top off setup. Just a guess, though.

First, BRS can answer these questions more specifically. But as far as the system turning off, water doesn't flow if you close the valve. It does flow if you open it. If you don't have an auto shut off, you have to be the manual shutoff person.

The 5 stage unit should have an automatic shut off valve, standard. Once the 3 gallon tank is full (actually holds about 2 gallons of usable water), it will shut off. One thing you should really think of doing is to upgrade the filters to 1 micron filters (both carbon and sediment). I have the 5 stage deluxe (now called "plus") with additional drinking water kit, and I purchased two 1 micron sediment filters (Purtrex 1 Micron Premium Depth Sediment Filter ROsave.Zs) and an extra .6 micron carbon filter (MATRIKX +1) when I purchased the unit so I would have a year's worth of filters. I removed the 2 original sediment filters, and just use the better one that I purchased, but kept the MATRIKX +1 carbon filter. You only need 2 quality filters, not 3 lesser ones.
