Picked up some neat frags today, 2 different acans and a green clove polyp all 3 for udner $60. Being newer to coral world I had a basic understanding of what needs what before I purchased and have already had really good success over the past couple months with my xenia and ricordia yuma so decided to take a jump to some easier to care for lps.

My question is in regards to care. the lfs stated that the acans are similar to favia but easier to keep since they are fleshier and easier to feed. They said under my dual bulb t5 HO fixture ( 46 gallon) to keep them near the top of the tank with decent flow and keep them away from the bottom. They also said to not worry about feeding them anything accept seachems fuel and that they are pretty slow growers.

Any tips appreciated as these are my first lps. I will also be needing some help with IDs, will take some pictures after acclimation and they open up a little.

Here is a picture of the tank, where should I place the corals?
1- near the top and a 425gph powerhead
2- near the top and underneath a filter return
3- near the top but a little lower kind of out of the way of direct flow but still pretty high flow area
    4-midtank mod flow area
5- mid-top tank underneath the flwo of the 750gph powerhead

I would start them down low on the sand in an unshaded area. This is where I keep mine. I have a 4 bulb T5HO DIY fixture. You can always move them up if they are having problems. I doubt you will need to move them, but if you do I suspect no higher than halfway up the rocks.

They look like A. lordhowensis. This is a low light Acan.

Both acans are the same species? They have completely different colors I thought they would be 2 separate ones. If it helps at all she said they are from Australian waters

Yes they are the same. There are many different color variants. Look at my tank in the lower left you will see my acan collection. All are lords except the one with green and blue.

Do you have a link 2n10?

Can you give me any pointers with their care? Do you feed them anything right now I just dose pytofeast and feed nori and nls pellets to the fish been thinking of adding fuel, marinesnow, or a zooplankton mixture.

On the sandbed they go!! Even with only a dual T5 HO fixture that will be enough light for them? Each bulb does have its own refractor, aquaticlife fixture with the stock bulbs I do have some giesemann bulbs though I believe theyre 15k, powerchrome aquablue+.
