I don't think anyone is lecturing you.

If there is detectable ammonia and nitrite, the chances of the fish being OK are not good.

When there is ZERO ammonia and ZERO nitrites, then the chances for the fish's survival are a lot better.

    Short answer... Yes

I have seen people do a full cycle with a clown. Just make sure that it is a very healthy fish to begin with. It will stress, but not too bad.

Hello Ryan, how are you my young squire? Some tend to get a little "lecturing" from time to time. The answer is, yes, he may add a Damsel. Clowns are quite hearty and the ammonia should be gone in a day or so. Add some "Stress Coat" to the tank or "Slime Coat". The LFS should carry some.

Its not you at all unclejed, and i mainly love lectures on this site and i usually learn a lot from them but when they are lecturing me on what i already know, let alone the basics of a marine tank, i got irritated. Im great thanks for asking. Im sorry but i just find it offensive when people talk to me on here like i have no clue what im doing, especially when its not my tank. But tanks for the advice, ill do just that.

    Thanks!

Seems like you were really just looking for someone to say YES.

I'm offended that you read through my post and deemed it lecturing. If you have all the answers, then why are you asking questions?

I found yours offensive because you were lecturing me on not only the basics of the marine tank, but something i know about and have said the tank went through already. i just take it as an insult if someone lectures me on something like that, acting like i dont already know that.

And i was not looking for someone to say yes, i was looking for a short yes or no and a reasonable explanation, not an insulting one.

Thanks for the advice, have a good day.

OK, but this is a basic question of a marine tank.

Just so you know, it is rude to tell someone that they are lecturing you when they are trying to help. In fact, what I did was give you information that will let you make up your OWN mind, not make up your mind for you, as others did.

You see, I don't think you're stupid, and I think you can make the decision yourself when presented with facts and ideas. If you already knew everything I said, then I don't see why you're asking such a question here.

Good luck with your friend's fish.

Beyond that, the ammonia is at 0.5. That's high.

I really think you should go grab a bottle of ammonia, open it up, and try to breathe comfortably with your head 3 feet over it for "a couple days". That's quite accurately depicting what you're inflicting on anything you put in the tank.
