Hey guys, I've been having trouble with keeping coral alive in my tank lately. I got a torch coral and I already lost 2 heads. I also lost a birds best ( although it was already dead or dying when it arrived). And I have also lost another SPS coral...
I'm not sure what in doing wrong. Parameters are ok and my zoas, mushroom and toadstool are doing great. (Feather dusters are also doing great).
I've never had to acclimate new coral to my lights because I usually use T5s, however in this tank I have metal halides. They are on the higher light end for my tank as the lights are a little bigger than my tank. (I have 2MH 150W with 2 T5HO atnics)

Question is.. Do you guys acclimate new coral to light? If so how?

Anything else that might be causing this problem? My tank is 9months old btw

Generally you need to put the coral in the lowest part of your tank and over a couple of weeks slowly move it up to the final location. Sometimes you will also need to shorten the light period.

Check your parameters and make sure they are in the reccomended ranges as them being out of range can make acclimation more difficult.
