I am currently running 8 T5s totaling 432 watts. The T5's are only 2 months old. I am looking to upgrade to 300(2 1x150) watts MH system with actinics. The question is how much acclimating, if any needs to be done...8)

I would like to add the MH to our existing system, however, we have a hood with 8 T5 54's
Here is our current lighting scheme
    Blue Plus
    UVL Super Actinic
    ATI Pro Color
    ATI Aquablue
    GE 6500K Daylight
    UVL 75/25
    Blue Plus
    Aquablue

How could I had MH to the existing system?

You will want to acclimate your corals by having a reduced lighting duration regarding the new halides as that will be alot of light initially for the corals.
Best to turn the halides on for a couple hours to start then each week, slowly increase the time til you get to where you want to be timewise with the new halides....good luck!

    Hey CoralReefer...
Do you think 2x250 + 4 54 W Actinics would be too much for my 72 bowed..18" depth with about a 3" sandbed?

BaxterS80, I think that would be an awesome set-up! What types of corals and clams do you hope to maintain in the 72 Bow?

I am just concerned that it may be too much for some of the corals we currently have, mushrooms, tubastrea, softies, and leathers...What about the fish?8)

Should be fine as long as your temp is under control with that much light...
