should you leave the lights off after introducing new fish and inverts into the tank. Even if this disrupts your normal light cycle? Wont this stress the main tank because your cutting in to the light time?

many people do this with fish crusty as it causes the other fish to become docile and allows the new fish to settle in without to much attention

I dont do it for corals personally

I turn the lights off a few minutes after adding a new fish (nothing else though, there's no point since there's no light-related aggression to deal with) to help keep things calm. Disrupting your regular light cycle is not a big deal. There are lots of cloudy days on the reefs in nature. :)

i usually see how the existing fish take to the new invador. lol. if theres a problem, i will shut off the lights. if theres peace in the tank, i leave them on. ive only had to shut mine off once when i introduced a second dwarf angel.

I shut the lights down a few minutes before introducing new fish, to calm the tank and give new fish a chance to settle.

I turn my lights off to help calm the fish in the tank. I can still see into the tank because of the way my lights in the house shine into the tank. I think it also helps the new fish acclimate without stressing them any further.

ive just followed what tangster said, put them in a bucket and match with you water, cover the bucket for 20 mins, add double water and wait another 20mins then place your hand in there and place them in and bam fish good to go. Knock on wood never had ick/stress, all my fish including 2 clowns/sailfin tang/watchmen goby/valentini puffer/cleaner shrimp all the same way and there thriving and will eat immediatley once in the tank. And this was all with lights on middle of the day.
