hello all, tried the whole intro thing but i got logged out and refuse to retype it.;) anyway i picked up an achilles for $30 at the LFS because they said it was sick. once home and floated the bag i checked the salt lvl and found it to be at 019. now from what i've read on the achilles previously i would assume that this fish would require high lvls than that and IMO the fish was nothing more than heavily stressed. the LFS said he wasn't eating well and spit most of his food out. once aclimated to my 025 lvl i released him into the tank and within 30 min was swinging about. upon feeding time he seemed to eat very well (considering how thin he is) and spit absolutely nothing out that i could see. upon waking up the next morning his color was returning and he was already grazing in the tank. by the end of the day and a few extra algea strips his discoloring was almost unnoticeable unless close up to the tank. my tank has been established for about a year and was assembled from 3 other tanks one of which was established for over 2 yrs the other about 4 months (house purchase changed tank plans ;D). the tank is a 135 with 3 400w hamilton reefstars on timers, 1 for 2hrs, then 2 for 4hrs, then back to 1 for 2 hrs. i have a yellow tand and lopezi/blue spot tang which seem to be faily relaxed about their newest tank mate.

any additional advice on the achilles tang would be much appreciated as this is a fish i've been eyeing for sometime now and was suprised to see at fish store and couldn't pass up for $30 even if i did have to issolate it and nurse it. ;D

    thanks for any input/advice.

Sounds like you just got REALLY LUCKY, Achilles have a bad rep for not being nurseable but sounds like your LFS just didn't try to much, you just got a $200 fish though

From the sounds of it just keep doing what your doing, and Grats on a new addition I'd kill to find a deal like that
