Achilles tang and purple tang

So, I was at a LFS and saw a beautiful purple tang, he was small, no broken fins, alert and was eating. For a more expensive fish this is just what I'm looking for. I purchased him, he's a little longer than 2 inches snout to tail. Within 6 months I will be upgrading to a 240 from my 65. Although I love this fish, my must have (will take out the purple if I have to), is an Achilles tang. Now, I've heard that purples get very nasty when they grow up. First question, does anyone know the growth rate of Purple tangs? second, if I introduce a bigger achilles than the purple will the purple still pester it. I know they have different body types, colors, genius. I also understand the difficulties of an Achilles tang, which is why I mentioned taking out the purple earlier. Any advice/tips from anyone who has a purple or achilles. Particularly if anyone has an achilles. Thanks

 

Get rid of the purple if you want the Achilles later one. They are had to keep and don't like stress very well.

 

I once saw a purple tang ripping apart 3 yellow tangs with his "tang" in a LFS display tank. He really put some good 1/2" to 3/4" long gashes in the sides of them. He wasn't going after the achilles tang in the tank, but the achilles was much bigger. I'm talking about a heavily stocked 1500+ gallon FOWLR tank here.

 

yeah i am not sure if i would do it, i guess its worth a try though, cause your switching over if you put ur achilles in the same as the purple then im sure you will be fine.
