Do they change color as they mature? Do they darken? Getting mine sunday but form the pic the guy sent me has a ton of orange but is fairly light colored not dark black like most ive seen. It is a juvenile/small tho so wondering if it will get darker as it grows?

Does he look healthy from pic?

Think he is one from hanauma bay oahu

Only hybridization I could find was with gold rim (a. nigricans), after googling juvenile Achilles, yours looks about right, just a bit more orange, beautiful specimen regardless. If anything, I like it more than your average Achilles because the light blue around the eye really contrasts with the orange.

I found an article that show how differnt regions of hawaii have different shaped achillies tangs. So believe this guy is from Hanauma bay oahu.

And i was thinking just stressed and flushed color.

To me it looks like the photo is more to blame than the actual appearance of the fish. You can see blur lines across it which I assume are scratches on the tank front. Those are normally only visible when the exposure is a little overdone which would also wash the black on the fish out.
