Is there any simple household product i could use to make an acidic solution? I have to clean a 125, 55, 25, plumbing, 3 skimmers, 3 koralias, 4 maxi-jets, 2 return pumps...and loc-line. Vinegar is 4$/gallon and i think i may need lots![IMG]

I haven't tried Cola yet...Seems like it could work. I'm a big fan of plain white vinegar though.

Things like CLR will work on calcium hardness, but to be honest, vinegar works well and there is no risk of contamination in your tank.

Well, muratic acid, 8.99$/gal at a pool supply store works! That stuff is scary tho but cheap enough to keep on hand as the one gallon will give me the eqivalent of 100's of gallons of vinegar!

WalMart has distilled white vinegar for about $1.80 a gallon and Costco has a larger 2 or 3 gallon size for about the same. Not sure what you have around you though.
I hesitate to recommend muratic acid or pool acids unless you are comfortable with working around chemicals. If you go that way ALWAYS remember, in a well ventilated area, you first fill the container with water then add a small amount of acid and never ever add the acid first then add water, it can be a very violent reaction and cause skin burns and breathing problems. Vinegar is safe and I use it full strength, strain the big chunks out and pour it back in the bottle to use over and over. If its for a tank or sump, I soak an old towel or rag in vinegar and drappe it over the area to be cleaned so it has chance to soak or I turn the tank on its side, front or back and pour enough in to cover the surface. When the vinegar loses its pH strength you can safely pour it down the drain.

Vinegar is probably the safest thing to use. And you wouldn't need a lot of it. Two to five gallon should do the trick to be able to soak your equipment and clean the tanks. Just make sure to rinse everything out a few times before you use it
