So. I have an acro crab living in my display fuge, without an acro or pocci. The acro he was living in got brown jelly disease and died in no time flat. I took the acro crab out and put him in a temporary acro until I could get another big colony of tenuis (which I ordered and fed ex delayed by 3 days, so obviously it was dead when it arrived). He didn't like this other variety of acro and crawled into a rock. Well I later removed this rock and put it in my fuge, because my clam eating tailspot blenny needed to be removed and put into the fuge. The tailspot was hiding in this rock, so it was just easier to take the rock out, then try to net the tailspot. I didn't know the crab was in the rock when I removed it.

Anyways, the tailspot never leaves the rock long enough for me to remove the rock and put it back into my 90 gallon. So the acro crab is living in the fuge, with no acro. How long can he live without an acro? He sticks his claws out during feeding time and I squirt him shrimp which he grabs a tons of and eats. Is that enough for him?! And for how long? I want to know how long he can last before I can get him out.

If it truely is the acro crab, it wont be enough Long term. Health will eventually decline.

They have better growth and survival rates with a host coral.

Yeah, I know for long term he will need an acro or pocci, but I'm wondering how long he can last without one? I don't know how soon I can get him out.

I bet if you get a frag, put it by his hole in the rock, he'll jump in, then you can move the whole thing in a cup or something LOL.

<< has no clue, just throwin' it out there!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you still have the dead skeleton you might want to place it close to him, let him climb back into it and target feed him as you are doing until you get another acropora. Just a thought

I thought about that. But I was worried he would take his time and the acro would suffer from the low lighting in the fuge. But I think that's my best bet. Now to find a big tenuis - not as easy as it seems! Thanks :)

I don't have the skeleton anymore. But I am target feeding him in the rock and he's loving the shrimp. It's fun!! Hope it can last him until I get a new acro.
