Awesome tank! Since you don't run a skimmer and no additives, what do you do for water changes?

Because I do not use a skimmer or additives, my LFS guy comes over and does a 15% water change once every 4 weeks. The key is to not keep too many fish either..it is better for the fish and for the reef. After a while, the tank just matures to the point where it is balanced and you don't need to change anything.

15% every 4 weeks gives you the ALK you need for that system?

In terms of salt and alkalinity, I believe my maintenance guy uses Reef Crystals. I test my Alkalinity and other levels every once and a while and never had an issue. The only issues I ever had was with Temperature after migration from T5 to MH. I added chillers to all my tanks and now no real problems.

I can concur with Dansreef here. once a tank gets established and is well down the road, it can become very stable. my old tank was in service for 10 years and the last 4, I did no dosing water changes or supplements.

Dan, Great looking reef. seeing yours made me go back and think of mine. I miss it dearly and look to yours for inspiration.
