    Thank you.
no I did not, but I would highly recommend doing it by placing a large piece of sand paper on a flat table and sanding the whole edge at once. This way you will have a true flat edge to work with and will save you glue. I just used a little extra glue.

Great build, looks clean. Just wondering how you plan to hang it on the aquarium.

I was wondering the same thing. Also how do you prime it? I've seen people drill a hole in the pvc and add a check valve. Would this be necessary?

    Thanks
It can hang on the back pretty good as is, but I'll probably ether glue on some rubber grommets for it to sit on or just make a silicone pad. I might come back and put another piece in to join them at the top (just make the joint thicker), but I don't know.
I would not add a check valve anywhere. This is just like the one I paid for and you simply have to fill and flip the tube right to get it started........ is what they said at least lol. It was a pta and it trapped bubbles so you'd have to mess with it. I'm thinking about attaching and air line size tubing to the highest point in the U-tube, the line will go to the sump and I will fill both sides and start the siphon buy sucking on the air tube. The air tube will also be a small siphon to take out any air bubbles that get sucked into to the tube from the skimmer box. I'm not 100% on this idea, so I was going to test it first, but I have not got there yet.

here it is on the tank as is. It's not too bad, but I'd like to get something soft for it to sit on instead of it sitting directly on the rim

I will be making one of these aswell. Forget spending $100 on one. You could even add another u-tube to make the flow better. Thanks for the info.

How much did it cost for you to build from start to finish?
