I decided to add a 96 watt CF to my 260 watt CF. I tried a 50/50 bulb on the 96 and didn't really like it.

So I just bought a Actinic 460 nm. It's blue, my other actinics are more purple, I noticed that they come in 420 nm and 460 nm, plus a 50/50 actinic. The 460 is too blue, doesn't look right with the purple light.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 420 and the 460?

I noticed that some companies only have one type of actinic, does anyone know the nm of Coralife's Actinic 03?

It's a compact fluorescent unit. My bulb choices are:
    460 nm
    420 nm
    420/460

Which is better for corals? Is 420 better than 460? Purple or Blue actinic?

At that end of the spectrum, you have ultra violet, then purple then blue rays with the 420 being more purple and the 460 being bluer in color. At that range in spectrum, the results will be the same and there is really no benefit of going with purple or blue light. It basically comes down to aesthetics( what you like) as you will be viewing it over and over again.

I like the blue much more than the purple. I think I may swap out my 65 watt actinics. There was such a large change in colour I just wasn't sure.

I may even give those 50/50 actinics a try, at least on the 95 watt.

    Now I have a problem.

I can't find 65 W 460 nm 21" bulbs for straight pin. I can only find square pin.

The only actinics I see are 420 nm.

Does anyone know where I can find these bulbs?

I just found an adapter from square to straight, but I need it the other way around. Anyone seen any?
