Ya, I've done that. It sucks air like crazy, just like when I lower the water level inside the skimmer.

Was the issue fixed with the skimmer? I just picked up a NAC3+ and I believe i am having the same issue with it not getting constant air. I dont have it as bad as the video but I do notice on mine the water level in the collection cup rise and fall and not stay steady. I did add a sponge filter over my return pump in the sump and i thought that was the reason why but its been over a week since I did I still have the same issue. Thanks

I ended up replacing the NAC 3.5 with a reef octopus NW110. When I placed the reef octo in my skimmer section and fired it up...IT STARTED PULSING!! At this point I realized my issue wasn't with the skimmer, but with the water depth in my skimmer section. I added some acrylic to raise the depth from roughly 5in to exactly 7.5in and the pulsing stopped. Keep in mind that this discovery was with the reef octo, but my theory is that the water needs to be at least 6in deep for the NAC to properly pull air. I think around 7in of depth would be ideal. What is your water depth in your skimmer section?

Its in about 8.75 inches of water I did raise it 3 inches to 5.75 and i was able to get it to work but when I woke up in the morning it was back how it was. I will raise it up some and give it a try. I know its a new skimmer but Im kinda on the verge of just getting a Reef Octo, I just dont want to spend the money again and I would like to get this one to work. Thanks for the update!

I hope it works for you, but I will say that replacing the NAC3.5 with the reef octo 110 may have been the best move I have ever made. It took a about 10 days to break in, but once it did it started pulling some nice skimmate. My tank's corals are so much happier. They're fully extended everyday and starting to grow again. Before I think they were just in survival mode. Keep us up-to-date.

Will do. If I do end up having to get a Reef Octo it will prolly have to be a HOB since i only have a 10 gallon sump "thats why I got the NAC3+ small footprint" but I have heard good things about those also. Thanks again for the update and ill keep ya posted.

Maybe look into getting a sicce pump. After I ordered te reef octo I discovered that the skimmer made by seaside aquatics is the exact same as the BM NAC3.5 but comes with a sicce pump. Perhaps you could replace the atman with a sicce. I hear great things about them...

I was looking into that also. Im going to give the height adjustment a try then maybe a new pump/skimmer keeping my fingures crossed. Hopefuilly the pump wont cost as much as the skimmer. Thanks again

Its been a while since I updated. I tried raising the skimmer height from 6 to 7 inches and leaving it for a time but that didnt work so I decided to order a Sicce-SK200 pump. Ill give an update once I get that thing running.
