So I setup my 46 bow... added my water and then added reef sand. Made it cloudy, have a Tunze 6015 and some LR in now (since last night) and its more clear but cloudy than not... wondering what I have to do to make it clear. Sump isn't done yet, but the skimmer is in and running. .. its a smaller nano skimmer since I'm moving from a20... want to swap everything over this weekend.

Probably it will take about 6-10 hours to clear.....I am really just totally guessing :) I know it took awhile for my water to clear after adding sand....I did have carbon running and my skimmer.

When I first started my tank the water was cloudy for 5 - 7 days. It would begin to clear up then I would move the rock a bit and it would be more of the same. Just be patient.

Your first mistake was adding the water before sand. Probably a couple days if you turn any pumps and powerheads off.

Yes...I agree should have added sand, then the water. It will take a day or two. But eventually will clear. The neat thing is that after the sand develops bacteria on it, It will clear in minutes when disturbed, such as while you are cleaning.

Well, stopped all moving water and is much better but still has a lot of particulate matter in the tank so I'm going to install the sump and run thru a few socks with the hope of removing all that junk... im not going to put any livestock in there until it's better.

Getting the sump running with the filter socks will help but you just have to be patient. It won't be long now and it will be cleared up.
