I just scored 50 pounds of cured live rock from an established system this morning covered with corralline and some coral, and some unfortunate bryopsis (which my tang is eating) FOR FREE. I already had about 50 lbs of rock in my tank and I switched out some pieces of mine for this but over all I probably added about 30lbs of live rock. My tank is over a yr established reef. Will there be any issues?

Also got a 3in yellow tang which I had to give to the pet shop for only 13 bucks credit because my yellow would of killed it. :( but something better than nothing and he will hopefully get a good home.

only issue is die off during transfer.... may have an ammonia spike...

Theres always the issue of hitchikers... aiptasia, mejano, crabs etc.

Only hitch hiker I see was the bryopsis. It's pretty spread out but I'm gonna use that bit of credit to get some more hermit crabs and hopefully them and my tangs will keep it controlled. I HOPE. Should I just add some PRIME to control ammonia spike. I dont think it was in the container for long and it was also in water the whole time and even some of the corals that were stuck on the rock have opened up again.

The funny thing about hitch hikers is you dont always see them. You can get crabs, flat worms, fire worms, mantis shrimp, bristl worms, aptasia Etc. and not even know it. I bought a complete 29 gal fowlr setup and did not know about the 6" bristle worm for over a week after I had moved it and set it back up.

Well, I guess all I can do now is keep my fingers crossed. So far everything looks fine, the corals are a little disturbed from moving them around and stuff, got some red feather duster worms and some new colors of corraline. I dont have an ammonia test kit so I just added a cap of PRIME. The rock was under water almost the whole time from tank to tank during transfer and the coral and tiny red feather duster worms survived to i dont think theres much if any die off so just gonna keep an eye out for hitchhikers. My tank is pretty full of rock now 2. Even had bout 10 lbs left to put in this 10g fuge in puttin together.
