I have a male flame wrasse in my 90 gallon that I've had a year and half or so. He started out female, but is now male. So he's been male...for a year maybe?

Is it possible to add a female for him? Or should females always be in the tank first?

Sure, it's possible, and can usually be done just fine. It's something I've considering doing myself for my lone male.

The only thing I'd advise, just to make sure you'll be alright, is to use an acclimation box for a couple days and observe their interaction. If the male is going at the box relentlessly looking for an attack, don't do it.

    agreed 100% with evolved...
but I did stop by to say that if your planning on getting a flame wrasse, get it soon! There is some legislation going on in Hawaii about regulating or even shutting down the trade. Personally, I think it is just political smoke and nothing will happen but you never know with these things.

Thanks! I can do that. He isn't aggressive at all (of course the other fish aren't wrasses), so I'm hoping he's mellow and all will be ok.
