yeah, you want to let her know she's not rule of the roost for a while and let her see the new fish b4 getting into kill mode.

+1 In my experience this is probably the best course to take.

I was unable to introduce any fish types or inverts such as shrimp and crabs to my tank. My female Maroon was about 4 yrs old and this was a smaller tank. I eventually had to get rid of her to be able to keep other fish and to be able to do maintenance on the tank. Now I find myself in the same boat with my large B/W clown.

haha I know someone that has a clown that never was aggressive toward other fish, but put your hands in there and it would not stop nipping. It was around 1.5 inches, I can't imagine a full grown maroon doing that.

So to update everyone, I got a second maroon yesterday - close to half the size of the one already in the tank, def a juvenile as it hasn't really colored up yet. I left him in the bag for about 5 hours to see how the other would react, was more curious than anything. Finally put him in and it was mayhem! The big one ripped almost ripped him apart...

Got him back out, built a cage out of egg crate, problem was the big one was able to wiggle in, so was more of a cage fight in the end. Got him out again, added another layer of egg crate, kept the big one out but the little one (being a smart little guy) managed his way out.

Finally, found a plastic Rubbermaid container and put a whole bunch of holes in it. It sits perfectly between the front and back wall and I put it right on top of my other maroons territory. As a side, I did take a lot of live rock out and move some thing around, but that didn't seem to phase the big guy. Here are some shots.

The egg crate cage which has turned into a nice little frag rack!

Little guy was eating fine last night and looks great this am to my surprise, going to keep him in there at least a week, maybe swap the two after that then introduce them again once he gets his strength back.

You will need more/ bigger holes in that container in order to have circulation.Pointing a PH at it will probably be needed as well.;)
Good luck.As the former owner of a GSMC for many years I am quite partial to this fish. These are great/hardy fish in the correct enviroment.
    1. You will need to have a fairly large tank.90+
    2. Be prepared to get attacked by this fish if you go near their "spot".
    3. Semi aggresive and even some highly aggressive fish will usually not want to tangle with a clown and usually give them a fairly wide berth.(see #1)
    4. Aggresion from this fish is usually tempered by territory size, tankmates, and aquascape.(see #1)

Like all fish much of what works for some people doesn't necessarily work for others.I never tried to add a second Clown but believe it is doable.(I would definitely have a plan B).There are many factors to consider when adding fish or animals to our systems.

Not sure if you can see them, but I have about 30-40 holes in it, there are two power heads pointing at it plus my returns, do I need more?

They will both be going in a 95 wide tank in about month, so should be ample space

I had purchased two maroons at the same time. I cant remember now if they were in the same tank now... But they both fought over 1 anemone. So I bought a second one and placed them on opposite sides of the tank.

Unfortunately the bigger maroon fought for both anemones. My LFS allowed me to take back one of the maroons and he sold it to another customer.

So just to update, after a couple weeks of trying, I've successfully got the two maroons in the same tank not trying to kill each other!

I added the small maroon first into the clear Rubbermaid container with holes in it for about 10 days after a failed first introduction, got him out in time though with just a little damage to his tail fin. After that, I caught the big one who was already in the tank and swapped the two, keeping the larger one in the container while the other one was in the tank. The big one was def aggressive when the small one swam up to him the first 4-5 days but this subsided. Yesterday (day 10) I thought I would give it another shot and let the big one back in the main tank, he charged at the other at first, but didn't attack as he had previously. Today, I noticed the little one was not hiding in the corner as he was yesterday, and when the big one approached, he did his little shimmy/shake and the big one wouldn't bother him. As of tonight, they actually swam around a couple times together and no aggression has been shown.

All in all, I'm pretty ecstatic with how it's turned out so far. I'll update with some photos in the morning.
