I want to add some chaeto to my tank to help with nitrates.
I don't have a sump or fuge, its going in the dt.

Is there any prep I should do before adding it to my tank? I know it doesn't require acclimating.

Is there any way to contain it within the dt?

I can't even fully contain it in my sump.

no matter what, pieces are going to break off and float around and then start to grow somewhere else. If it is in a sump at least you can have the water pass through a sock or filter floss before going to the DT to keep it contained.

    Crap!

I saw someone use a soapdish with suction cups to hold it under a filter so it didn't get out of control but the soapdish is too big for my tank.

Been trying to figure out what else I could use and I'm drawing blanks

If you have a smaller tank, could you possibly do more Water Changes?

Chaeto requires a lot of flow too. A restricted place in the DT may not give you a lot of nutrient export.

You sure you cant setup a sump? It would open doors to many possibilities. You could make it a display sump too. Here is my setup...

the nursery box is how i "contained" my cheato but i did this so it wouldn't be over run by my caluerpa

    This.

A 10% weekly water change should be more than sufficient unless your tank is overstocked or you're over-feeding.
