Adding corals

How long did u wait until you started adding corals to the reef ...after tank was set up with cultured live rock and how many could u add the first time? Thanks

 

I'd wait until you added a cuc and a fish and made sure you didn't get a mini cycle! If your params check out then your good to go! You could add some softies and lps pretty soon! Sps are fonna take awhile! Read up on some over at live aquaria.com

 

i waited almost a year i think cause you want to have a somewhat established tank that way the big 3 are pretty level and you know how to adjust them once they start changing.

 

If you are starting out with beginner corals like kenya trees, GSP, mushrooms, low end zoas, xenia, etc, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Especially if you can get them really cheap or free, which usually isn't too hard to do. Check local for sale boards around here, there's usually other hobbyists who are willing to share their abundance of kenya trees ;D. I'd rather help out a beginning reefer than adorn the garbage with more trees.

I wouldn't be adding any $20+ corals just yet...but I'd be willing sacrifice a $5 coral to see how they grow.

 

What is a 5$ coral? All the ones I've seen are 50++
