Adding Diatoms to your aquarium?

Interesting....not sure if I want to open up that can of worms, but definitely interesting. I wonder if I can do it in my pod farm - pods eat diatoms, so it might help them breed better...

 

I've dosed Silica for expensive sponges but I wasn't really paying attention to the algae before or after dosing so I cannot comment directly.
