What is the best way, without spending a fortune, to add large amounts of LR to a new tank. Looking at starting up a 150G once my 28g is up and running for a few months. Can I buy rock and seed it with a few pieces from my smaller tank?

Buy dry rock and seed it, it's the best and most affordable way to go... and if your smaller tank is pest free, you won't be adding any unwanted pests to the new tank.
